Meta Platforms unveiled its first artificial intelligence model, Muse Spark, on Wednesday, April 8, from a superintelligence team assembled last year through a costly talent war and internal restructuring.

The company reportedly hired Scale AI CEO Alex Wang under a US$14.3 billion deal and offered engineers pay packages worth hundreds of millions to build the team.

Muse Spark is designed to be small and fast yet capable of reasoning through complex questions in science, math, and health.

It will initially be available on the Meta AI app and website before replacing existing Llama models on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook in coming weeks.
