After disaster strikes, Philippines offers aid to Japan

President Rodrigo Duterte intends to provide assistance to disaster-stricken Japan, after floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall killed at least 140 people and many are reported missing in Kumano, Hiroshima.

Filipino soldiers, including engineers and medical personnel can help in the rescue and rehabilitation efforts in calamity-hit areas in Japan, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

President Duterte visited Japan in October last year to enhance strong bilateral relations.
