DPWH to put up motorist center in Maharlika Highway

The Department of Public Works and Highways, through its 3rd Engineering District, will be setting up a motorist assistance center at Kilometer 81 along Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Roque starting 8 a.m. on Holy Wednesday, March 28.

According to DPWH District Engineer Jovel G. Mendoza, the assistance center will primarily assist travelers and motorists passing along the Maharlika Highway to go to their respective provinces and destinations in the CALABARZON and Bicol region, as well as in Visayas areas in celebration of the Holy Week.

The said move is in line with the directive of DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar to assist commuters and motorists, and monitor road networks to ensure safe travel from March 28 until April 2.

He added that the traffic volume is expected to peak on Holy Wednesday along the stretch of the Maharlika Highway because of tourists and vacationers exodus for the Lenten and the summer season.

The DPWH Motorist Assitance Center will be comprised of an automotive mechanic capable of troubleshooting any vehicle in case of breakdown, emergency responders in collaboration with the San Pablo City search and rescue team, and the Liga ng Mga Barangay for ambulance units in case of vehicular accidents.

Mendoza also pointed out that they have already coordinated with the Philippine Red Cross-San Pablo City chapter for first aid services , while the San Pablo City Barangay Communication Central, Kabalikat Civi Communication and SNEAKY Communications-Alaminos will be tasked in giving out communication support services.
