The granting of mid-year bonus (MYB) to employees of the Social Security System (SSS) was approved by the Office of the President (OP) on Friday, May 26, 2018.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc said: “I personally extend my gratitude to President Duterte for granting the approval to grant the mid-year bonus to SSS employees through the efforts of Special Assistant to the President Bong Go.”
Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno announced recently that government workers will receive their MYB starting May 15, 2018 following guideline set by Budget Circular No. 2017-2.
Under the circular, all civilian personnel in the Executive, Legislative, Judicial Branches, Constitutional Commissions and other Constitutions Offices, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and GOCCs covered by the Compensation and Position Classification System are entitled for the MYB.
This year, the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), the central policy-making and regulatory body of all GOCCs, issued memorandum circular no. 2018-03 on May 11, 2018 before the scheduled release of the mid-year bonus.
Under the Circular, GOCCs, such as the SSS, who opted to continue adopting their current pay plan must seek clearance from the Office of the President for the grant of the MYB.
Employees of SSS has been receiving the MYB under its 1997 Compensation Framework. Sec. Bong Go has been instrumental in securing the President’s approval.
In a statement, the SSS said they have immediately complied with the memorandum circular.
SSS currently has 6,810 regular employees located in 314 local and foreign branches serving some 36 million Filipino members all over the world.
