Pro-administration congressmen believe that President Rodrigo Duterte is serious about his move on removing corrupt officials in the government.
Recently, Duterte revealed that he had fired two more government officials, including an undersecretary, following suspicions of corruption.
The two officials were reported of making clients repeatedly return to hero agencies, which Duterte doesn’t like to see as far as government processes are concerned.
“Don’t be corrupt, it’s as simple as that,” Isabela 1st district Rep. Rodito Albano said regarding the President’s corruption purge. Albano is the representative of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan to the powerful Commission in Appointments.
AKO-Bicol Party-List Rep. Rodel Batocabe, meanwhile, lauded Duterte for maintaining a good job in the anti-corruption campaign.
“I believe that the President is setting a high standard for public service and just like Caesar’s wife, a public official shall not be tainted by any whiff of corruption,” Batocabe, leader of the Party-List Coalition in the House of Representatives, said.
“It is good for the country and will definitely bolster the trust and confidence of our people in government,” he furthered.
Last January, Duterte removed Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) administrator Marcial Amaro III from his post due to his “excessive travels” overseas — recording total international 24 tripa between 2016 and 2017.
