DepEd to activate Election Task Force, Monitoring Center for 2018 local elections

In assistance to public school teachers who will facilitate in the 2018 local elections, the Department of Education (DepEd) will reopen its Election Task Force and Monitoring Center in its Central Office in Pasig City.

DepEd will reactivate its ETF and Monitoring Center for public school teachers who will work during the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections slated to commence this May 14.

The ETF will be located at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Central Office in Pasig City from May 13 to 15.

“The reactivation of the DepEd Election Task Force will ensure that public school teachers and other non-teaching personnel are provided with adequate information, and technical and legal assistance while fulfilling their duties during the May 14, 2018 elections,” Undersecretary for Administration Alain Del Pascua said.

Pascua furthered that the ETF Center at the Central Office will be set up at 2 p.m. of May 13 and will be open until 12 noon of May 15. He also encouraged the DepEd Regional and Division offices to put up their own ETF centers.

According to Pascua, together with DepEd, they “will work closely with local government officials and law enforcement agencies” like the DILG, Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to ensure the safety of DepEd personnel with election duties.

DepEd is also slated to host an online seminar for all its personnel who will act as chair and members of the Electoral Board and Barangay Board of Canvassers (BBOCs).
