President Duterte has signed the ad interim appointment of John Castriciones as the new chief of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) after his stint as the acting secretary of the agency for four months.
Castriciones was named DAR acting secretary after the Commission on Appointment’s (CA) rejection of former chief Rafael Mariano.
Last month, the CA bypassed the ad interim appointment of Castriciones as DAR Secretary as the Congress went on a break for the Lenten Week.
There were also reports that some lawmakers were not satisfied with Castriciones’ answers in the two hearings on his appointment.
Prior to his appointment, Castriciones was the national president of the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC), the group which supported the president during the 2016 elections.
