The Philippine Navy has formally received three more units of the Beechcraft TC-90 aircraft from the Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD) through the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMDSF).
The said aircraft units were received in a transfer ceremony at the Naval Air Group (NAG) headquarters, Naval Base Haracleo Alano, Sangley Point in Cavite City.
“These TC-90 aircraft are in addition to the two units previously transferred to the Philippine Navy last year and will complete the whole project involving five units of TC-90 aircraft pursuant to the agreement between the Philippines and Japan,” Navy spokesman Captain Lued Lincuna said.
The Philippine Navy has earlier remarked that the aircraft donated by Japan will be essential in boosting the capabilities of the Naval Air Group Operations and Maritime Air Surveillance.
In addition, the aircraft will also help in enhancing the skills of the naval aviators and maintenance personnel in handling modern equipment.
