President Rodrigo Duterte has renewed its vow in helping Indigenous Peoples (IP) as he states once again his promise of providing livelihood assistance for the Lumads.
In his recent speech in Davao City, Duterte made the commitment to give the Lumads tractors and seedlings and asked them to take good care of the equipment.
“I will help you survive, but you have to start now. I will give you assistance to cultivate your lands,” Duterte said in Bisaya.
“By taking care of your equipment it will function as it was intended to and last longer,” he furthered.
Last month, Duterte announced that the government will release PhP 100 million as assistance fund for tribal communities in Mindanao.
Moreover, the President also promised to supervise the entry of investors and government assistance to IPs to help them have their own sustainable livelihood.
“Mag-release ako ng P100 million, temporary, pangtawid ninyo sa normalcy. ‘Yun ang gamitin ninyo. You have to learn something, a skill to help your family,” Duterte said.
