The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has disclosed that it has not so far detected any specific threat for the Holy Week and has assured that it will remain on high security alert to ensure that the celebration of the Lenten season will be violence-free.
In a statement, the AFP disclosed that they will be on non-stop high-security alert for the entire Holy Week and will continue to conduct appropriate security measures to ensure communities are protected from criminals and possible terrorists.
“There will be appropriate deployment when and where the need arises. In every security measure, there will always be a gap that criminals and terrorists will pursue and take advantage of,” the AFP said in a statement.
“Again, we recognize the importance of the help of our citizens and the community against the enemies of peace.”
“We call on our people to be part of the security net to detect, deter, and frustrate any move by criminals and terrorists, “the AFP added.
Following its earlier announcement, the AFP Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR) has deployed 700 soldiers around Metro Manila to help the police secure public places and other areas for the entire Holy Week.
