The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is ready to offer free skills training for displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFW) from Kuwait to help them find new jobs and build their own business here in the country.
Aside from this, the OFWs in trainng will also be given food and transportation allowance.
According to TESDA Director Guiling Mamondiong, all TESDA regional, provincial and district directors and TESDA-accredited technology institutions (TTI) have been ordered to prioritize OFWs affected by the Kuwait deployment ban.
President Rodrigo Duterte has recently instructed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to impose deployment ban to Kuwait after news about death of OFW Joanna Demafelis surfaced.
Mamondiong also shared that the TESDA will coordinate with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to have the list of repatriated OFWs.
