The Department of Health (DOH) has affirmed that it has sent a demand letter for Sanofi to fully refund unused Dengvaxia vaccines which amounts an estimated PhP 2 billion.
Late last month, Sanofi has already returned PhP 1 billion to DOH.
According to DOH Secretary Francisco Duque II, they already sent a demand letter to the French firm because “the purported protection wasn’t felt.”
“They withdrew the label. They did a re-labelling because they said you can no longer use this for seronegative children who never had past dengue infection,” Duque said.
The Dengvaxia vaccines have been controversial and have since accounted to 26 deaths as of last week, according to DOH.
