The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has affirmed negotiations with private operators of UV Express to help stranded commuters in the event of another Manila Metro Rail Transit (MRT) breakdown.
DOTr Assistant Secretary Elvira Medina said in a recent interview on a morning news show that UV Express units will be allowed to drop off and pick up passengers in areas where most MRT users get stranded.
She also assured that this move won’t add to the volume of traffic since they will only allow units that already cover the route of MRT stations.
UV Express units will continue with this program until the DOTr finds a viable solution to the MRT’s woes.
